Summer Camp Assistant

Position Description

Are you interested in making a positive difference for children while having fun and building your leadership skills? Then this volunteer opportunity is for you! Kneehill Regional Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is looking for volunteers to help create a fun, positive, and engaging experience for elementary-aged summer camp participants and to assist the Community Support Coach with facilitating camp activities and games.

Our Summer Camp Assistants are an important part of our summer camp program. Come join our team and make a difference!

**Letters of recommendation available upon request based on pre-set criteria**

Position Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with participants, community members, and Kneehill Regional FCSS staff

  • Help facilitate summer camp activities and games with the Community Support Coach

  • Assist with program set-up and clean-up

  • Keep program materials organized

  • Complete various administrative tasks (if volunteering for post-program data entry)

  • Keep records of own volunteer hours

  • Report to the Kneehill Regional FCSS Community Support Coach

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and work well with others

  • Good communication, organizational, and time management skills

  • Have access to own transportation to get to and from the camp venue

  • Previous experience working with children is considered an asset

  • Volunteers 18+ years of age require a criminal record (vulnerable sector) check

Camp Weeks:

July 8-12 - Acme

July 22-26 - Trochu

July 29 - Aug 2 - Linden

Aug 12-16 - Three Hills

Aug 19-23 - Carbon

Time Commitment

Summer Camp Assistant positions are for 3.5 hour sessions from 8:45-12:15pm or 12:45-4:15pm. Volunteers can apply for one session or multiple sessions. Please specify on your application form what dates, times, and locations you are available to volunteer for.
