Roots of Empathy (ROE)

In the ROE program, a parent and baby from the community visit a classroom over the course of a school year. A trained instructor visits with the family to guide children as they observe the relationship between the baby and its parent to learn about empathy. The instructor also visits before and after each family visit to reinforce teachings. This program is now running in Carbon, Trochu and Linden.

Prevention of Family Violence and Bullying

Kneehill Regional FCSS creates awareness regarding family violence and bullying for area residents by facilitating an annual section in the regional newspaper, The Capital, during the month of November. The newspaper section highlights statistical information, signs to look for, actions that can be taken and where to access assistance. Kneehill Regional FCSS also coordinates the Red Rose Campaign in November, prevention of family violence month, which is an initiative that places a live red rose in area businesses, schools and churches to remember those who have lost their lives to family violence.

November is Family Violence Prevention Month
